Maintenance & cleaning

A GOOD MAINTENANCE IS ESSENTIAL FOR THE LIFE OF YOUR CARPET.

USE
During the first period, many rugs made in natural fibers can release fluff residue as a consequence of pounding, but a regular vacuuming makes carpets clean until the end of the phenomenon.
Avoid your rug (and floors) getting too dirty by protecting entrances to your home with dedicated barrier or door mats.

DEALY CLEANING
Vacuum the carpet carefully and frequently, preferably in the direction of the pile.
We recommend the use of a MEDIUM POWER VACUUM CLEANER, don’t use brushes because they can damage the pile.
Don’t forget to vacuum the back of your rug at least once a month.

IF THREADS APPEAR ABOVE THE SURFACE cut them very close to the carpet with a pair of scissors. Never pull them!

WEAR AND TEAR
Never place rugs on damp or wet floors. Change the position of the carpet once or twice a year to slow down and spread the wear across the surface. Put round felt under the table or furnishings legs to soft the weight and preserve the pile. All colors and natural fibers could fade irregularly, furthermore wool and cotton become dry out and become more breakable. We suggest to avoid direct and continue sunlight exposition and we recommend to turn the carpet regulary in order to make homogeneous discoloration.

WRINKLES
Always roll up the carpet, NEVER BEND IT for a long period. If you store it in a damp place like a cellar, put newspaper sheets above the surface to absorb moisture. When you want to reuse the carpet, consider that it needs a little time to eliminate excess moisture and stretch the fibers.

PETS
Be careful that they don’t spoil the carpet with their claw. Urina may smear and burn the pile, but there are specific treatments at professional washing centers.

REMOVAL OF STAIN
Try to remove as much as possible the dirt with a spoon or a dull knife. If the stain is food or liquid, dry it up as soon as possible. Wet a white cotton towel with lukewarm water, squeeze and lay it over the stain. Repeat the process. Use Always NEUTRAL DETERGENTS, don’t use bleach or high PH liquids and possibly try first the reaction on a corner of the carpet. DON’T SCRUB and work always from outside of the stain toward the center. Dry with a fan or a cold air dryer. To lift up the pile use a soft and dry brush. Be careful: if you don’t dry well your carpet it could appear some mold, which will damage the carpet.

For the most resistant stains there is James Starterset.  Product Sheet

If the stain persists turn to a professional center.

D.I.Y. CLEANING
You can refresh the carpet every three or four months with a solution of water and white vinegar, using a washing brush always in the direction of the pile. Vinegar sanitizes and brighten up the colors.

PROFESSIONAL CLEANING
Domestic cleaning is never as effective as a professional cleaning. Contact us or a professional center. We recommend washing on a flat surface with cold or lukewarm water and use neutral detergents, finally drying always in plane.

RESTORATION
If something happens to your carpet do not wait too long: the situation may deteriorate and increase the repair cost.

UNDERLAY
It is recommended not only because it prevents domestic accidents, but also because decreases the friction with the floor, extending the life of the carpet.  Product Sheet
